# The Center

The Center is the part of this site that documents the shop itself rather than the work: the rate card, the licence numbers, the day by day process, the glossary, the case files and the comparisons. Most of it exists so an owner can check a claim rather than believe one.

## Why a body shop publishes its own rate card

Most collision shops quote on request and publish nothing. There is a commercial logic to it: a rate that arrives after a conversation can be adjusted to the vehicle, the carrier and the person asking. Publishing removes that flexibility on purpose. Body and paint labour is $210 an hour for a retail customer and for a carrier, on a Class A coach and on a cargo trailer, and the number does not move because somebody sounded wealthy on the phone.

The cost of that decision is real. A published rate loses the jobs where a lower number would have won the work, and it invites comparison against shops whose quoted rate excludes materials, hazmat or the supplies line. The benefit is that an owner can audit an invoice against a page that was written before their vehicle arrived, which is not something a verbal quote allows.

## What you can verify here and what you cannot

Some of this material is independently checkable and some of it is not, and the difference is worth stating plainly rather than blurring. The Bureau of Automotive Repair licence ARD00288521 and EPA number CAL000367879 can be looked up with the state before you drive anywhere. The address, the hours and the posted rates are verifiable the moment you arrive. The published day axis can be held against your own repair and the shop can be judged by the gap.

What cannot be verified from outside is the judgement: whether a wall was genuinely soft, whether a frame genuinely came back inside tolerance, whether the third supplement was necessary. No amount of published process settles that. What the documentation does is narrow the space where a shop can be wrong without it showing, which is a smaller claim than trustworthiness and a more honest one.

## Three different readers, three different starting points

An owner already mid claim has a different problem from one who is shopping. If a carrier has written an estimate and you are trying to work out whether it is complete, the insurance material is the place to start, because the failure modes there are procedural rather than technical and they repeat across carriers.

If you are comparing shops, the rate card and the comparisons are the fastest route to a real difference, since almost every shop describes itself in the same language and almost none of them publish numbers. If you are trying to understand what actually happened to your coach, the glossary and the case files carry the mechanism, in the vocabulary an estimator will use when you call.

## The pages this cluster does not contain

There are no individual staff names, no headshots and no biographies anywhere in this cluster. The crew page describes roles and certifications instead. Naming technicians would be easy and it would read well, and it would also be unverifiable by any reader and would survive their departure by years.

There is no page claiming a founding year, a count of vehicles repaired, or a number of years in business. Those numbers are the easiest thing in the world to write and among the hardest for a reader to check, which is exactly the combination this cluster avoids. Where a figure appears anywhere on this site it is either a posted rate, a published band, or something with a citation attached to it.

There is no page offering a remedy promise, and neither of the two words the trade usually reaches for appears anywhere on this site. What replaces it is a description of the quality process: what gets photographed, what gets measured, what goes in the file, and which licences the shop holds. That is weaker language and stronger evidence, and the trade normally chooses the reverse.

There are no customer star ratings and no review counts. Ratings that a business publishes about itself are worth roughly what they cost to produce, and this site does not carry an aggregate rating for that reason.
