Accessibility Statement

This site targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA. That target is stated as a target rather than as an achieved certification, because no independent audit has been commissioned and claiming a result nobody verified would be worse than claiming nothing. What follows is an honest account of what has been done and what is known to fall short, as of the effective date above.

The site is a set of prerendered pages with a small number of interactive components. Most of what a reader encounters is text, headings, lists and tables, which is the easiest kind of page to make accessible and the reason the standard is a realistic target here rather than an aspiration.

Light mode only, with every text and interface colour pair measured for contrast against the surface it sits on rather than assumed. A visible focus indicator on every interactive element, never removed. A skip link ahead of the navigation so a keyboard reader can reach the content of a page in one keystroke. Headings that describe the structure of the document rather than its typography, in order, without a skipped level.

Tabular data in real tables with real header cells, which includes the opening hours, the labour rate card and the price bands. Every image carries alternative text. No animation runs that cannot be reduced by the operating system preference, and no content depends on colour alone to carry its meaning: a status is also a word, and an error is also a sentence. Text reflows to a single column on a narrow viewport without a horizontal scroll.

Page structure is the same on every page in a cluster, so a reader who learns the shape of one service page knows the shape of the next. Link text describes its destination rather than reading as a bare instruction.

The map strip in the footer loads a static poster image with a text address and a telephone number beside it, and the interactive map loads only when a reader activates it. That design is deliberate, and it means the interactive map that follows is a third party embed whose internal accessibility the shop does not control and cannot correct. The address, the hours and the telephone number are all available as text without ever loading it.

Some archive photographs carry short alternative text that describes the damage rather than the whole scene, because the damage is why the photograph is on the page. A reader relying on alternative text will get an accurate description of the finding and a less complete description of the surroundings. Longer descriptions are being written for the photographs where the surroundings matter.

Documents supplied by carriers, including estimate copies and claim correspondence, are not remediated by the shop and are not published on this site for that reason. If a carrier document is the only source for something you need, ask and it will be read to you or summarised in text.

The three calculators are fully keyboard operable and announce their results in a live region. Some older screen reader versions read that region late or read it after the following control, which means a result can arrive out of sequence. Every calculator also renders its result as ordinary text below the controls, so the value is reachable by normal navigation whether or not the announcement lands.

The pages have been operated by keyboard alone, with a screen reader on a desktop browser, and at increased text size and page zoom. Testing is ongoing rather than complete, and it is done by the people who build the site rather than by an independent auditor. That is a limitation of this statement and it is named here so that a reader can weigh it.

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, the shop wants to hear about it, and a specific report is worth more than a general one. Name the page, describe what you were trying to do, and say what technology you were using if you know it. The aim is to acknowledge a report within two business days and to say what will be done about it within ten. That is a target the shop works to rather than a commitment it makes, and where a fix depends on a third party embed the honest answer may be that the content will be provided another way instead.

Anything on this site can be provided in another format on request. An estimate, a rate card, a price band or a page of guidance can be read over the telephone, sent as plain text, or gone through in person at the facility. Nobody needs to use the website to do business with the shop.

This statement is reviewed whenever a component that affects it changes and at least once a year. The effective date above is the date of the most recent review. Each limitation named in the section above stays on this page until it is fixed, and it is removed from the page in the same change that fixes it rather than in advance of one.
